ASIS International leads the way for advanced security performance

If you are serious about developing your career, and are committed to professionalism in security management, then you should join ASIS. With more than 36,000 members worldwide, ASIS International is the pre-eminent organization for security professionals. What makes ASIS special is its focus on you, the security professional. It is an organisation that is purely for individuals and has no corporate membership. It is essentially a networking and professional development organisation with a committed membership that has, as a key aim, improvement of security industry standards and professionalism. ASIS International has its head office in theUSA.

ASIS Membership, networking and professional development

Providing security advice and services is a responsibility that requires a range of skills, and broad-based experience. The prevention of security incidents is becoming increasingly difficult in a world of rapidly evolving technology, instantaneous communication, and highly sensitive contrasts in political and cultural agendas.

Not only are security professionals searching for answers to unique and complicated situations, but in today's business environment of shifting job responsibilities, many non-security professionals are being asked to address a broad range of security concerns. Often times, in the face of a crisis, a lack of procedural understanding augments a confusion of job responsibilities to produce an unwanted, sometimes unrecoverable outcome. ASIS membership can provide the resources you need, when you need them the most.

Joining ASIS is the right decision

Membership in ASIS International defines your role in security. Whether you have a vast range of security experience or have recently assumed responsibility for protection services, you will find the means to heighten your abilities and expand your understanding of appropriate security practices through the wide-reaching opportunities your membership in ASIS will provide.

Participating in your local ASIS Chapter

There are three Chapters operating within Australia - based respectively inNew South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory. There is also a chapter operating in New Zealand. All Chapters provide opportunities to become involved in various activities and special events.

ASIS NSW Chapter is the largest in the region

The NSW Chapter of ASIS International is one of the most progressive and active chapters within the ASIA Pacific region. Members of the NSW Chapter represent a major user base of security products and services. The Chapter often represents the needs of users and the public in supporting efforts for improvement of the security industry, but does not act as an industry pressure group. The Chapter organises a range of activities every year and is a major contributor to the University of Western Sydney's courses leading to a degree in Security Management.

CPP promotion

The NSW Chapter is also proud to have the highest number of members who have obtained the Society's highest professional designation - the "Certified Protection Professional" or CPP within Australia and New Zealand.
This situation has not come about by accident. Key members in the chapter have worked hard in coordinating study programs for local candidates who wish to sit the CPP exams.
